Winter Solstice

It is the time of year when the sun sets almost before we realize the day has started. Every year I wait anxiously for this day, the winter solstice. I know that from this point forward the days will grow longer and brighter and warmer.

In the north country, winter light is great for photography. The sun is low on the horizon most of the day, making almost the entire day a "golden hour." This time of year the eagles are collecting at Lake Coeur d'Alene and photographers with "real" cameras are too. What a great way to beat cabin fever!

Here is a collection of winter scenes for my friends and family. I am so lucky have met so many new friends this last year and been able to stay in touch with the old ones. Wishing all of you the best during this season of light!

It was a great year on the water for the Spokane River Rowing Association. Many thanks to the Coach and his dog, who let me ride the launch during some of the practices.

I am learning how to do slide shows using the ProShow Gold program. A lot of automatic features that make the first go at it very simple. You know the phrase: 80% of the work takes 20% of time and the last 20% of adjustments take 80% of the time.

If you are taking photos and want to add some punch to them, I recommend this program. It is easy to do special effects and add music for some real zing.

Still have much to learn about the different forms of output: PC vs. TV vs. DVD vs. web shows.
